Ilaria holds a Bachelor Degree Honours in Speech Pathology and she is a fully registered as a Speech Pathologist in Italy. She is completing a research project partnering with The University of Sydney in Childhood Apraxia of Speech, a motor speech disorder affecting children’s ability to program and plan oral muscles in order to elicit speech sounds. She has presented work in conferences in Italy (AIDEE Conference), USA (Motor speech Conference) and Australia (Speech Pathology Australia Conference).
Ilaria is specialising in early intervention with children with Development disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Impairments and Developmental motor coordination disorder, offering evidence-based treatments to enhance their possibilities to convey appropriately. She is also skilled in liaising with families, teacher and other external providers in order to help children to generalise their new abilities learnt during therapy. Ilaria has experience delivering Applied Delivered Analysis (ABA) in children with ASD, teaching adaptive behaviours like social skills, play skills or communication skills.
Ilaria is passionate about helping children to communicate their needs through play routines. Play is an essential medium to provide motivation and to coordinate the mechanics of speech with meaning and functioning.
