Child Adolescent Family Therapist

Ithia Farah has more than twenty-five years’ experience in the psychology field, delivering evidence-based interventions working with child and family health services, in private clinical practices, non-profit organisations, both overseas and Australia. Ithia works collaboratively with the client’s family, stakeholders, educators, allied health professionals and community services as part of the process to achieve client goals.

Ithia’s professional experience includes working with children and families from diverse backgrounds, individual sessions, play-based group interventions with children with developmental delays, children with disabilities, children (OOHC) and their birth family or foster care families. Ithia has provided tailored programs and person-centred approaches to address the learning needs of clients and their families, such as responses to complex support needs and challenging behaviour, sleep disturbances, grief and self-care, relationship conflict, inclusion process into mainstream services, social skills, emotional regulation, sexuality awareness programs, depression and anxiety, anger management programs, designing and facilitating programs for families, parenting and sibling workshops. Ithia can deliver services in English and Portuguese (Brazil).

Ithia is enthusiastic about inclusion and fostering innovation. She was the co-founder of Carpe Diem (Brazil) that is an NGO with the mission of including young people with disabilities in regular workplaces and community life.

Ithia is also a published author and won the National Foundation for Educational Development Brazil (1999) Award for authoring “Are We the Same?”, a children’s activity book with an ancillary guide for teachers and parents. It sold more than 46,000 copies. Ithia has also published academic journals and articles, one of them on Early intervention Australia- Inclusion Together Blog- ECIA- NSW.
