Cindy Hsiang

Principal Psychologist

MAPS; MEdPsych; BSc (Hons) Psych Registered Psychologist (PSY0001267892); BCBA

Cindy Hsiang is the registered Psychologist at Aspiration Education and Development Clinic in Baulkham Hills. She holds a Master degree in Educational Psychology, and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology. Cindy is a fully registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS). She is listed on the Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder Practitioners Identified List under APS, and a Psychology Board approved supervisor. Cindy is also an ESDM-certified therapist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Cindy has extensive professional experience working with children, adolescents and their families. Her professional experience includes assessment and interventions of a wide range of difficulties; such as, autism and related developmental delays, learning and behavioral difficulties, anxiety and depression. She has worked in public and private sectors in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the Hills District. Cindy has provided services to families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. She is able to deliver her service in English and Mandarin (Chinese).

Cindy is skilled in a range of therapeutic techniques and parenting programs. She takes on a family-centred collaborative approach and works closely with other professionals and organisations (e.g. pre-schools, schools, and non-government organisations). Having worked in the educational system provides a context for Cindy’s consultation. She communicates effectively with relevant stakeholders (e.g. teachers, school counselors) and her intervention suggestions are practical. Cindy provides consultation to a variety of organisations and has been involved in a number of research studies (e.g. effects of bi-lingual background on language development in early childhood; effective early intervention for children with ASD).

Cindy is passionate about advocating for children and believes systemic attitude change about developmental delays and learning difficulties in childhood play a vital role. She was the senior psychologist in the state-wide Autism School Counselor Training initiated by NSW Department of Education and Training. Cindy was also a director of a children’s service where she assisted inclusion of children with ASD and other behavior/language difficulties. She actively engages in professional development and received a scholarship from the Autism CRC to complete Graduate Certificate in Autism Diagnosis in 2015.
